After 15 years in the thrash metal scene, Costa Rica's Höwler is releasing this single to give fans a glimpse of what to expect from their upcoming 5th studio album. The song also introduces a change in the band’s sound: after four records, Höwler decided to change their vocal approach, adopting a more aggressive style.

In a unique move, the band now features three lead vocalists, with the two guitarists and bassist sharing vocal duties, while the drummer provides backing vocals.

The lyrics of "Oath in Black" explore the darker aspects of human nature, questioning whether wickedness and betrayal are ingrained in us. The song asks if war will forever remain a part of human history, reflecting on the complexities of our existence.
