[news] DRUNKELWEIZEN ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM: "PIONEERS OF ALCOHOL"
Portland-based Drunken Folk Metal band, Drunkelweizen, is excited to share that their debut album, "Pioneers of Alcohol", will be released on September 6, 2024. This album offers a unique blend of heavy metal, folk elements, classical influences, and a hearty dose of alcohol-themed fun.
Drunkelweizen hails from the vibrant music scene of the Pacific Northwest, where they've developed their distinctive "Drunken Folk Metal" sound. Inspired by the German Purity Law, or Reinheitsgebot, which traditionally limits beer ingredients to water, barley, and hops, the band takes a creative detour. Their music is a potent mix of heavy metal aged in oak barrels, with rich notes of classical music influences.
"Pioneers of Alcohol" is a tribute to historical figures whose lives were deeply intertwined with alcohol. Each song tells the tale of a legendary poet, notorious outlaw, miraculous event, or infamous demise, celebrating their connection to the storied legacy of alcohol. The album's title track ties these stories together and pays homage to those whose tales remain untold, all while embracing a festive spirit.
