Originally formed as Finsterort in 2008, the project evolved into Machtklang in February 2024. For Christina "Herrin," a trans woman, Machtklang serves as a powerful outlet to process years of trauma, including childhood s*xual abuse by a Catholic nun. The music presents a raw, anti-religious message aimed at empowering critical thinkers and those whose spirits have been crushed by religious institutions.
Musically, Machtklang blends dark, sinister tones with both fast-paced and doom-like slower passages. The drums deliver classic black metal blast beats, while the bass and guitar occasionally break into solos reminiscent of Megadeth. This creates an intense and immersive soundscape, fusing the raw energy of black metal with the weight of doom.
Lyrically, Herrin explores the vision of a world free from toxic dogmas, racism, and sexism. While Machtklang doesn't position itself as a political project, it embraces a satanic philosophy, where satanism is seen as a symbol of ultimate freedom—standing for the individual's autonomy over the control of the masses.
With this album, Machtklang seeks to be a musical refuge for misfits and outcasts, offering empowerment and rebellion against oppressive forces in today's heretical society.
