[news] CAFFEINE Drops Blistering New Single and Title Track "The Threshold"

Rising sludge trio CAFFEINE has just released their latest single, "The Threshold", a powerful track that is already making waves in the sludge/stoner metal scene.

"The Threshold" blends the heavy, riff-driven sounds of bands like Mastodon and High On Fire with elements of lo-fi witch house and psychedelic rock. The result is a high-energy track that will leave you buzzing with its raw power and intensity.

In their premiere of the track, VISIONS magazine described it as a stormy mix of sludge and post-metal, with psych-rock guitars that create a brewing tempest. The publication highlighted the dynamic interplay between the thunderous drums and the distorted, conspiratorial guitars, capturing the essence of CAFFEINE's sound.

Lead singer and bassist Denis Radoncic shared that "The Threshold" was the first song written after guitarist Andre Werk rejoined the band, reflecting the energy and excitement of their renewed collaboration. Radoncic also explained that the song is a critique of the pressures of wage labor under capitalist society, a theme that CAFFEINE has explored since their debut album, Serac (2018).

Outlaws of the Sun has recognized this release as an important moment for CAFFEINE, highlighting its potential to establish the band as a significant force within the sludge/stoner metal scene.

The Threshold, CAFFEINE's second album, will be available on CD, vinyl, and digitally on September 13th, 2024, via The Lasting Dose Records. The album is already available for pre-order, with limited test pressings still up for grabs.
