Alameda is a sonic journey that takes listeners through the natural ebb and flow of life, exploring both its light and dark moments. Across 10 tracks, Allamedah blends poetic lyricism with intricate musical arrangements, capturing the complex essence of existence in a way that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.
Founded in 2016 by David Bitton (vocals, guitar) and João Faria (drums), Allamedah is a Portuguese metal band with a distinctive sound that pulls in influences from genres as diverse as fado and rap. Fado, a traditional Portuguese music genre that has been recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, brings an emotional depth to their music that resonates throughout the album. Their ability to merge modern metal with these styles is evident in their collaborations, like Algema, featuring fado singer Valéria and the Portuguese guitar of João Luzio, and Incerto, with rapper Jayneto. This unique blend of sounds makes Alameda a truly standout record that doesn’t just fit into a genre; it creates its own space.
Recorded at Ohme Studio and produced by Daniell Cardoso, Alameda dives into life's paradoxes: the highs and lows, the joys and the struggles. The album speaks directly to the human condition, inviting listeners to experience moments of serenity alongside waves of powerful soundscapes. The multilingual approach, with lyrics in Portuguese, English, and Hebrew, adds a layer of depth that makes Alameda resonate beyond borders, giving it a universal appeal. The majority of the album is sung in Portuguese, further emphasizing the band’s connection to their cultural roots.
